Biostimulation therapy

An infrared diode laser technology has been in use for the past 8 to 10 years in the United States and Europe. When the laser is applied to the scalp, it produces a biostimulatory effect with anti-inflammatory properties, thereby stopping post-treatment hair loss. (The laser is manufactured by MedPro.) People with hair loss develop a perifollicular inflammation that decreases cell metabolism and “strangles” the follicles. The follicles begin regressing and hair becomes increasingly fine and no longer grows as fully as it once did. This phenomenon is known as miniaturized hair follicle regression. Obviously, the hair will eventually fall out and new hair growth will cease. This loss of hair is what is referred to as baldness.

This laser device namely increases blood flow and eliminates the perifollicular inflammatory effect, thereby reactivating cell metabolism and strengthening the hair. Miniaturized hair stems then begin to grow and become bigger, longer and thicker and hair coverage increases. Obviously, terminal hair follicles provide much better coverage than the much finer regressing hair follicles.

However, hair that is no longer there will not grow back. It is important for the patient to understand that biostimulation will not increase the quantity of hair but rather the volume of the hair through increased hair calibre. Both miniaturized hair stems and healthy hair will become more resilient.

Another effect is to stop hair loss because hair loss or baldness is prevented by putting an end of the inflammation of hair stems that have not yet reached the regressive stage.

These characteristics have been observed as part of several American and European studies with thousands of participants. Thus, satisfaction levels have reached close to 100% with respect to hair quality, volume and sheen. Certain data indicate that close to 90% of participants have reported healthier hair and up to 80% of participants have reported thicker hair and more dense coverage.

The laser is equipped with over 90 diodes that fully cover the surface of the scalp that has gone bald. This procedure is completely painless and non-invasive and has no side effect whatsoever.

Treatment protocol

This is an intensive one-year treatment, carried out twice a week during the first two months, then one a week for seven months and once every two weeks for the last three months.

It is a research-based protocol, carried out with several physicians, that has proven itself very efficient. Obviously, seeing as nothing is permanent, this treatment will require follow-up every 6 to 8 weeks to maintain capillary benefits.

Each treatment session takes between 20 and 30 minutes.

There also exist laser diode combs which are obviously much less powerful yet offer undeniable advantages for use at home after an intensive laser treatment.
