How many grafts are required per session ?

The number depends on the characteristics of the hair taken from the donor area (density, texture, waviness). Therefore, the optimum number of micrografts can vary enormously from one person to another.

For example, for a given surface, we might need 1,000 micrografts in one case and 3,000 or more in another. When it comes to micrografting, it is much more appropriate to speak in terms of the surface to be covered, or total number of hairs, than in terms of the number of grafts. Nevertheless, on average, we transplant 40 to 45 follicular units per square centimetre.

The quality of the results, i.e., the most natural looking hair possible, will depend on the physician’s expertise in achieving optimal density and volume in the fewest number of sessions.
