Filling Treatment

As we age, our face losses volume and changes. This loss of volume results directly from a weakness of the skin and the loss of fat and muscle tissue. That is when creases and jowl wrinkles appear and cheekbones and cheeks begin receding.

As part of a global rejuvenation approach, the focus must be given to recreating the harmony of shapes that characterizes a rested appearance.

That is why Dr. Sabourin’s clinic carefully selects filling agents on the basis of needs and longevity. Here are some of the agents used:

 Injectable fillers, such as Juvéderm® Volbella™ and Voluma® are used in deep wrinkle treatments and lip remodelling.

- Semi-permanent injectable fillers (the effect lasts for years), such as ArteSense used in deep wrinkle treatments and lip remodelling;

- More recently, autologous injectable fillers, such as Selphyl which produces results by using the specific properties of blood cells and plasma.

To produce fully natural-looking treatment results, it is necessary to balance proportions and preserve the harmony of shapes. After local anaesthesia has been administered (usually, an anaesthetic cream is applied), the product is injected into the skin or literally under the skin to produce accurate and durable results. The injected product contains an anaesthetic to minimize discomfort.

There is no risk of rejection and allergy tests are necessary seeing as all of these injectables contain natural skin components. Thus, practically all risks of complications (e.g., granuloma) are diminished. Possible side effects include temporary swelling or bruising of the treatment sites as well as localized discomfort. All of these effects will subside within a few days.

Dr. Sabourin regularly uses products such as Juvéderm®, Restylane and Radiesse.
